Jawa

Our highest power single-shaft CCGT application with 2 x 400 MW clutches at 3000 rpm installed on this 1.76 GW plant in Indonesia supplied by GE Vernova.
The Indonesian government and the national energy company PLN are reducing greenhouse gas emissions by reducing their reliance on coal and diesel power generation which have a high environmental burden. As part of this Electricity Business Plan, they are promoting the transition to gas-fired power plants that use natural gas, including LNG, as a fuel source, while also increasing the percentage of renewable energy.
The Jawa 1 project is managed by Jawa Satu Power and is Indonesia’s first large scale “Gas-to-Power” project initiative. The plant consists of two GE Vernova gas powered units each with a capacity of 880 MW (1.76GW in total) and a Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) with a storage capacity of 170,000 m3, constructed to generate and provide power in West Java, Indonesia.
All the generated power from the plant will be dispatched to PLN under a 25-year power purchase agreement. The power plant gets LNG from BP’s Tangguh facility in Indonesia’s Papua Barat province via the Jawa Satu FSRU.
The 880 MW Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power plants supplied by GE Vernova use the 9HA.02 gas turbine platform connected on a singleshaft to the generator and a 3 casing steam turbine via a 360T SSS Clutch. This high efficiency configuration typically has much a smaller footprint than a multishift unit and provides greater load flexibility.
The inclusion of the SSS Clutch enables the gas turbine to be started rapidly and only engages the steam turbine when there is sufficient heat from the heat recovery steam generator and the rotational speed of the steam turbine matches the speed of the generator. Each 360T SSS Clutch is rated at 400 MW.
